What March weather feels like
March afternoons in the south are warm and clear, often 22 to 25°C. Evenings are milder than in January and February. The north is green and full of flowers after the winter rain, which makes March a beautiful month for walking in Anaga and the Orotava Valley.
The clocks go forward on 28 March 2027, moving sunset to about 20:15. Teide may still have snow in early March, and the high mountains are cold, so take warm clothes if you go up.
Is the sea warm enough to swim in March?
The sea is at its coolest, about 19°C. Many long-stayers still swim on calm, sunny days, especially at Playa de las Vistas, Playa del Duque and Playa de la Arena. For longer swims, a wetsuit or a heated pool is more comfortable.
Easter in March 2027
Holy Week runs from 21 to 28 March 2027. La Laguna’s Holy Week processions are among the most important in the Canaries. Shops close on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and resorts fill with Spanish and European visitors, so flights and short rentals cost more. Carnival in Santa Cruz is usually in February, but in some years events continue into early March.
Where to stay in Tenerife in March
The south and west (Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, Los Gigantes) remain the sunniest. Puerto de la Cruz is a great choice in March if you prefer greenery, walking and a traditional town. See Puerto de la Cruz for snowbirds and microclimates in Tenerife.
What to pack for March
- Summer clothes plus a light jumper.
