What March weather feels like

March days are bright and warm in the sun, often 22 to 24°C in sheltered spots in the south. Evenings are milder than in January and February. As spring advances, the trade wind becomes more regular, so afternoons on east-facing beaches can be breezy.

The clocks go forward on the last Sunday of March (28 March 2027), pushing sunset to after 20:00 and giving long evenings outdoors.

Is the sea warm enough to swim in March?

The sea is still at its coolest, about 18 to 19°C. Short swims on calm, sunny days are pleasant; for longer sessions, a wetsuit helps. The lagoons of El Cotillo, Caleta de Fuste and the beaches of Jandía are the most sheltered.

Easter in March 2027

In 2027, Holy Week runs from 21 to 28 March. Expect processions in Betancuria, Puerto del Rosario and other towns, some closed shops on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and busier resorts. Flights and short rentals are more expensive over Easter, so if your stay ends then, book your flight home well in advance.

Where to stay in Fuerteventura in March

All the main areas are pleasant in March. The south (Morro Jable, Costa Calma) remains the warmest; Caleta de Fuste is calm and convenient; Corralejo and El Cotillo are great for surfing and lively evenings. See the Fuerteventura long-stay guide.

What to pack for March

  • Summer clothes, plus a light jumper for evenings.

  • Swimwear and, for long swims, a shorty wetsuit.
  • Strong sun cream, a hat and sunglasses.

Is March a good month for a long stay?

It is a lovely month to end a winter stay or to start one that runs into early summer. Non-EU visitors should check that a March departure fits inside the 90-day rule using the Schengen 90/180 calculator.

March compared with other months

March is about 1°C warmer than February and noticeably sunnier. November is still warmer, mainly because the sea is warmer in autumn. For the full winter picture, read Fuerteventura weather in winter.
