March is when Lanzarote’s winter turns into spring. Daytime highs average about 23°C, nights about 15°C, and the island gets around eight hours of sunshine a day, more than any month since October. Rain is rare, with about two rainy days in the month. The only cool part is the sea, which is still around 18 to 19°C.

What March weather feels like
March afternoons are warm and bright, often 22 to 25°C in sheltered places, and evenings are noticeably milder than in January. The trade wind tends to become a little more regular as spring advances, so beaches on the east coast can be breezy in the afternoon.
On the last Sunday of March (28 March 2027), the clocks go forward an hour. Sunset moves from around 19:05 to around 20:10, giving long, light evenings for the rest of your stay.
Is the sea warm enough to swim in March?
The sea is still at its coolest, about 18 to 19°C, because the ocean warms more slowly than the air. On warm, calm days swimming is pleasant for a short dip; for longer swims, a shorty wetsuit helps. Sheltered beaches in Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen are best.
Easter in March 2027
In 2027, Holy Week runs from 21 to 28 March, with Easter Sunday on 28 March. Expect religious processions in Arrecife, Teguise and Yaiza, closed shops on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and higher prices for flights and short rentals as Spanish and European holidaymakers arrive. If your long stay ends in late March, book your flight home early.
Where to stay in Lanzarote in March
All the main resorts work well in March. Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen remain the warmest and most sheltered; Costa Teguise is good for windsurfing and a quieter feel; Arrecife suits those who want a real town. March is also a lovely time to explore the north, where the green after winter rain makes the valleys of Haría especially attractive.
What to pack for March
- Summer clothes for the daytime, plus a light jumper.
- A windproof jacket for breezy afternoons and boat trips.

March compared with other months
March is about 1.5°C warmer than February and sunnier than any other month from October to February. November is still warmer, mostly because the sea is warmer then. For the full season, see Lanzarote weather in winter.
