Tenerife Bus Pass for Long Stays: How It Works

In Tenerife, the TITSA bus network is the easiest way to get around without a car. Visitors can use a rechargeable Ten+ card (or the Ten+ mobile app) to pay reduced fares compared with cash, and it works on buses and the tram in the Santa Cruz and La Laguna area.

How it works

  1. Buy a Ten+ card at bus stations, some shops or use the Ten+ app.
  2. Top up with money.
  3. Tap on when you board; some longer routes also ask you to tap off.
  4. Fares are cheaper than cash and depend on distance.

Residents vs visitors

The Canary Islands run special free or discounted schemes for registered residents. These generally do not apply to visitors on a winter stay; visitors pay standard Ten+ fares.

Useful routes for long-stayers

South to the capitalLos Cristianos to Santa Cruz
South to the northLos Cristianos to Puerto de la Cruz

Check current timetables on the TITSA website or app, as routes and numbers can change.

Tips

  • Buses can be busy on market days.
  • Keep some credit on the card for unplanned trips.

Our verdict

A Ten+ card is the first thing to buy on arrival if you are not hiring a car.
