A couple spending the winter in Gran Canaria can expect to spend roughly €1,800 to €2,800 a month including rent, food, eating out and transport. Las Palmas is usually the better-value base; the southern resorts cost more in peak season.

Why Las Palmas is cheaper
Las Palmas is a working city, so restaurants, bars and shops price for locals. A coffee, a menu del día or a beer costs noticeably less than in the resorts.
Supermarkets
HiperDino, Mercadona, Lidl and Spar are everywhere. Local markets such as the Mercado de Vegueta and Mercado del Puerto are good for fresh produce and fish.
Transport
City buses in Las Palmas and Global buses across the island are inexpensive, especially with a bono or rechargeable card.
Our verdict
For the best value, base yourself in Las Palmas and take the bus south for beach days. More in Best Area in Gran Canaria for Long Winter Stays.
