Cost of Living in Lanzarote for Long-Stay Visitors

Living costs for a long winter in Lanzarote are similar to the other main islands: a couple can budget around €1,400 to €2,700 a month for rent, food, eating out and transport. Arrecife is the cheapest base; frontline Puerto del Carmen is the most expensive. A car adds to the cost if you stay outside the main towns.

Car hire

If you want to explore Timanfaya, Famara and the north, budget for a week or two of car hire, or a monthly rental, which often works out cheaper per day.

Food

Lanzarote has excellent local produce: wine from La Geria, goat’s cheese, fish and sweet potatoes. Local restaurants away from the seafront are good value.
